He was the son of Benjamin and Marie Wardlow. After his father passed away, Maylon Squires married his mother. Melvin married Judy Marie Waggoner on February 7, 1981, at Gravity, Iowa. Together they had three children, Melvin Leroy Wardlow Jr., William Joseph Wardlow and Alicia Marie Wardlow. He worked at Fisher Goldstar in Laurens for many years before going to work at Pengo, where he made many friends.

Melvin is survived by his wife: Judy; sons: Melvin Jr. and William, all of Havelock; daughter: Alicia Wardlow of Laurens; grandchildren: Tristan Chase and Trinity Wardlow, Cameron and Candice Long, Abegail and Layla Anderson; sister: Sherry Terry; brothers: Willie and Chester Squires.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, Marie and Benjamin, step-father Maylon Squires, sisters, Fannie Strange, Alice Kalkas, Verna Hoover and Carol Terry, brothers, Benjamin Wardlow and Gerald Squires and great-nephew, Andrew Mutchler.

Carol Terry, 52, of Shenandoah, passed away in Sidney on July 8, 2009.

Carol was born to Mahlon (Jr.) and Marie Squires on December 19, 1956 in Clarinda. She had a twin brother, Gerald, who precedes her in death.

Carol wed David Terry in April 28, 1974. The couple had two children, Justin Terry and Joshua Terry.

Carol was a beloved mother, sister, aunt, and friend to all who knew her. She will be missed greatly to all who knew and loved her.

Carol is survived by her son Justin and his wife Laura Terry of Omaha and her second son, Joshua Terry of Kansas City, Mo.

Carol leaves behind six of her siblings, a brother Benny and his wife Beverly Wardlow, of Red Oak; a sister, Verna Hoover of Havelock, Iowa; a brother, Melvin Wardlow of Havelock, Iowa; two brothers, William Squires and Chester and his wife Sherry Squires of Shenandoah; a sister, Cheryl and her husband Kim Terry of Shenandoah; and many nieces and nephews.

Her parents, Marie and Mahlon Jr.; a sister, Fanny Strange, her twin brother, Gerald Squires and a second sister, Alice kalkas, precede Carol in death.

Those of us who knew Carol best will always cherish the silent testimony that she gave to us all regarding her journey from this life to her eternal life. She leaves us to admire the strength and courage she carried within herself to walk the rough road that was her life. Carol hung on to the promises of God. These were her lifeline. They would get her home, she knew this to be true, and it was. We rest in the promise that she is now and forever where she chose to be, with God and family. We willmiss you always Carol, but rejoice with you that you are where you are meant to be.

Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. on July 11, 2009 at Walker-Merrick Funeral Home with inurnment at Oak Grove Cemetery in Clarinda.

William Douglas "Will" Squires was born November 30, 1954 in Clarinda, Iowa, the son of Mahlon and Marie (Loughry) Squires. He passed away on Wednesday evening, April 27, 2016 at his home in Shenandoah, Iowa at the age of 61 years, 4 months and 28 days.

Will grew up in Clarinda and graduated from Clarinda High School. Following high school he served his counry in the United States Marine Corps. Will never married but had his dogs and mani nieces and nephews that kept him busy over the years. He worked several jobs in the Shenandoah area, most recently he worked for Earl May Seed & Nursery. He enjoyed fishing and taking his dog for runs. He was also a history buff and enjoyed learning about his family's history. His true love was his family.

Will was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents and great grandparents; seven of his siblings, Fanny Strange, Benny Wardlow, Melvin Wardlow, Verna Hoover, Alice Kalkas, Carol Terry and Gerald Squires.

Survivors include his sister, Cheryl Terry and her husband Kim of Shenandoah, Iowa; his brother, Chester Squires and his wife Sherry of Shenandoah, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Beverly Wardlow ofBedford, Iowa, Judy Wardlow of Havelock, Iowa; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life was held on April 30, 2016 at the Walker-Merrick Funeral Home in Clarinda. His final resting place is the Oak Grove Cemetery in Clarinda, Iowa.

After the death of their mother, the younger Lowell children were farmed out and show up in the census of 1856 and 1860 in the homes of other citizens of Story and Polk County. An A. M. Lowell, female age 12 born in Indiana, shows up in the home of I.W. and Mariah Cory in Iowa Center. Unable to determine which twin this was.

I believe the other twin was living with the J. W. Keller family in Camp, Polk County, Iowa in 1860. M. Lowell, a 12-year-old female, born in Indiana, is enumerated with Mr. Keller and his wife Lucy.

Anna Marilda Lowell was born in April 1847 in Ohio, United States, Varying information on Anna Marilda's birthdate has been found. Her marriage application in 1865 to David See listed her age as 20 placing her birth in 1845. I believe it was more likely 1847 (Mound Cemetery's family tree; age 3 1850 Census) as her mother was still living in 1850 and most likely provided the information on age. The 1856 Iowa State Census listed her as 7, but this would have been after her mother's death and the children were farmed out so doubt the reporter was the best source of information.

Services for Mrs. Marie Kime, 56, of 1146 Amos Ave., who died Friday at Iowa Methodist Hospital of complications following surgery, will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Hamilton's Funeral Home with burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Kime was a lifelong Des Moines resident. She was a member of the Adelphic Chapter Order of Eastern Star and the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd.

Surviving are her husband, Everett; two sons, John of Bettendorf and James of Calamus; a daughter, Mrs. Joan Huss of Pleasant Hill; her mother, Mrs. Myrtle Pedersen of Des Moines; a brother, Victor Pedersen of Berwick; a sister, Edna Pedersen of Atlanta, Ga., and seven grandchildren.

His obituary was published on 20 January 1955 in Des Moines, Polk, Iowa, United States. Services for Jack L. Pedersen, 29, of 1001 Evans St., will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Hamilton's Funeral Home with burial at Highland Memory Gardens.

Mr. Pedersen, a carpenter, died Tuesday at Iowa Lutheran Hospital of injuries suffered Jan 12 when he fell from a ladder on a building where he was working.

A lifelong Des Moines resident, Mr. Pedersen was a member of Lincoln Heights Lutheran Church, of Carpenters local No. 106, A.F.L., and the Moose Lodge.

Surviving are his wife, Virginia; parents, Mr. and Mrs.Nels Pedersen, Des Moines; one brother, Victor Pedersen, Des Moines; and two sister, Mrs. Marie Kime, Des Moines; and Mrs. Edna Pyers, Rock Island, Ill.
