In an article published 14 Jul 1936 in the Des Moines Register (page 1, column 1) detailing the death of Elmer and Robert See, it stated that "William See, uncle of the two young men, was killed when an automobile struck him as he was riding a bicycle at Ventura, Cal. Robert See and his father had just returned from the funeral in California a few hours before on the same motorcycle which See rode to his death."
