• Death: He died on 5 February 1926, at age 83, in Adams County, Iowa, United StatesBGO, George's obituary was found in the Clarinda Herald's 15 Feb 1920 edition. It stated he died at the home of his daughter Nancy Rhamy on a farm north of Hepburn. He was survived by 8 of his 12 children, 2 sisters, thirty-six grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren.^2,2

  George and Nancy came to Page County in 1868 by wagon train. They settled about two miles north of Hepburn, where they bought 40 acres, partly in the hills. Here they built a dugout where some of their children were born.
  
  They cut logs from the place and built a house, believed to be in 1873-78, later adding to it with native lumber from the place. They had 13 children, four died in their youth. Like all pioneers, they depended on what they grew or made. They planted an orchard, berries, asparagus, rhubarb and a large garden; raised chickens and geese, for food and feathers for pillows and feather ticks. Their last child was born 30 Jun 1891 and she died young. George grew his own tobacco and hung it in the hayloft to dry. In later years he was almost blind but was a very jolly person.

• Obituary: His obituary was published in the The Villisca Review on 12 February 1926 in Villisca, Montgomery, Iowa, United StatesBGO.
  George E. Loghry, for fifty-seven years a resident on a farm north of Hepburn, died Friday evening, feb. 11th at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Joe Rhamy, northeast of Villisca, his death resulting from old age complications. He was 83 years old at his death.
  
  He was born June 4, 1842, in Indiana, coming to Oskaloosa, Iowa in 1856, and remainint there until 1866. He was married to Miss Nancy Jane Roumans, and in 1868 they came to Page County and settled on the farm south of Hepburn. To this union 12 children were born, four of whom are deceased. Those living are Mrs. Charley Wymore, Mrs. Joy Rhamy, Will, John, Joe, Jim, Ralph and Dick. The wife and mother died a year ago, after which Mr. Loghry visited among his children until last July when he went to reside in the Joe Rhamy home. He is survived also by two sisters, thirty-six grandchildren and sixteen great grandchilren.
  
  The funeral was held Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Rose Hill Church southwest of Hepburn, with Rev. George A. Lawton of Villisca in charge of the service and internment was in the Rose Hill Cemetery.²³

  George E. Loghry, Fifty-Seven years on One Farm.
  
  There may be a few of the earlier settlers of Valley township, Page county, and vicinity, who remember when the late Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Loghry came in 1868 and located on a farm near Hepburn. Looking backward, such might picture in their minds, Mr. Loghry then a young man of 26 years, accompanied by his young wife, and with that picture before them, of a young married couple, facing many of life's problems, these survivors of the early days in the settlement of this county might think much concerning the Loghry family, and the work they have done in helping in the development of Iowa. What history the world has made since Mr. Loghry was born in Indiana June 4, 1842.
  
  For fifty-seven years he was a Page county farmer; then for a while, his wife having died, he visited among his children and then made his home at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Joe Rhamy, northeast of Villisca, where he passed away Friday evening, Feb. 5, 1926, at the age of 3 (sic) years. He lived at Oskaloosa, Iowa, from 1856 until 1866. Miss Nancy Jane Roumans became his bride. Twelve children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Loghry, of whom the following eight are living: Mrs. Charley Wymore, Mrs. Joe Rhamy, Will, John, Joe, Jim, Ralph and Dick. Of the descendants of Mr. and Mrs. George E. Loghry there are thirty-six grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
  
  Mr. Loghry's funeral was held at the Rose Hill church on the Wall street road, north of Clarinda, and his grave is in the nearby cemetery.²⁴
