Gentry of car No. 186 of the Walker street line, prevented a serious accident when his car struck a team and wagon containing Albert McFadden, his wife, their four children, Hazel, aged 16, Rosa 14, Fred 10, Glen 5, and a playmate, Jessie Short, 12 years old, at 10:30 o'clock last night on the corner of Walker and East Seventeenth streets.

    McFadden attempted to turn his team across the track ahead of the car, according to witnesses. His wagon was overturned, although the car stopped within six feet of the point where it struck the wagon. Mrs. Clara McFadden suffered from a sprained ankle, and her daughter Hazel was badly bruised about the head. The children and Mr. McFadden escaped without injury.

    Shock Over Illness of Father Kills Daughter

    WHEN Clara M. Yates, 1429 Bluff street, learned yesterday that her aged father, Franklin Rouse, was fatally ill of pneumonia, she died of a broken heart. Physicians who examined her explained that nothing but grief or shock could have caused the death. Six hours after her death Mr. Rouse died. Since the demise of Mrs. Rouse, most of Mrs. Yates' interests have centered around her father, who was a veteran of the civil war. Mrs. Yates was 52 years old and the mother of five children and two step-children. Besides these she is survived by her husband. Mr. Rouse was 80 years old and had been a resident of Des Moines for thirty-five years. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon for the two who were never separated in life but will be in death. For the father will be buried in Woodland cemetery and the daughter in Glendale.

Love for her father, Franklin Rouse, who was fatally ill, resulted in her death, which was followed a few hours later by the death of the father. Sevices for both will he held at the same hour at the home at 1429 Bluff street. Burial of the father will be made in the Woodland cemetery and Mrs. Yates will be buried In the Glendale cemetery.

    Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church for Mrs. Henry A. Nelson, 52, of 1504 E. Madison Ave., who died of cancer Wednesday at Iowa Lutheran Hospital. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery.

    Mrs. Nelson was a lifelong Des Moines resident.

    She is survived by her husband Henry; two sons, RogerL. of Southfield, Mich, and Steven H. of Brooklyn Center, Minn; a daughter Janet Kay of Des Moines, her mother, Mrs. Hazel M. Thornton of Des Moines; two brothers, Albert D. Thornton of La Habra, Calif. and two grandchildren.

    Thomas served on the Des Moines Police Force and was a Sergeant on the Police Fore at the time of his retirement. After his retirement he worked as a car salesman for Holiday Chrysler-Plymouth in Des Moines. He was a member of the Simpson Methodist Church. His death was the result of Cancer.
