Evelyn Jane Rounds Simons, age 91, of Des Moines passed away on May 20, 2012.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 25, 2012, at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenwood Friends Cemetery in Ankeny.

Those left to honor Evelyn's memory are her children, Jack (Sally) Rounds, Judi (Mike) Whicker, and Deanna (Dennis) Wilson; sister-in-law Carole Miller; grandchildren: Don (Debbie) Host, JoAnn (Mike Behrens, Toni (Dan) Sumpter, Diana Buehler, Teresa Rounds, Brad (Theresa) Whicker, DeAnna Caldwell, Mates (Nikol) Rounds, III, Stacia (Ryan) Andrew, Jennifer (Dennis) Ireland, and Tommy (Shelby) Rounds;.great-grandchildren: Don (Ashley) Host, Travis Host, Sarah Behrens, Emily Behrens, Elizabeth Behrens, Katie Sumpter, Betsy Sumpter, Zachary Whicker, Sterling Caldwell, Alexis Caldwell, Madison Caldwell, Mates Rounds IV, Cade Rounds, Zane Rounds, Samantha Andrew, Tyler Andrew, April Rounds (Ireland), Elizabeth Rounds, and Tommy Rounds; and great-great-grandchild, Caiden Host.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husbands, Mates Ever Rounds and Donald Simons, sons, Mates Ever Rounds, Jr., Thomas Frank Rounds, grandson Jackie Rounds (Ireland), brothers Marvin Tillotson, Frank Tillotson, Jr.; sister, Marvel Campbell, and her parents, Frank and Ollie Tillotson.

Her one regret in life was not seeing her beloved Cubs win the World Series.

Her obituary was published in the Adams County Free Press on 9 June 1949 in Corning, Adams, Iowa, United States. Darlene Alice Loghry, daughter of Cecil and Viola Loghry, was born at Cumberland, Iowa, Dec. 3, 1937, and slipped away at her home near Corning Thursday, June 2, at 11 years, 5 months and 29 days of age.

She was a member of the Noble Center Evangelical Church and was well liked by her playmates and those who knew her. She seemed to have a special talent for music. She had been ill only a matter of hours.

Besides her parents she is survived by two sisters, Betty and Rosy, at home, other relatives, schoolmates and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 4, at 2:30 p.m. in the Boyd Roland Co. Funeral Home in Corning, conducted by Rev. R.T. White. Music was by Mrs. Russell Roland, accompanied by Mrs. Lyle Posten. Pall bearers were Gary Norcross, David Schafroth, Richard Stanley, Douglas Sickler, Phillip Lawrence and Larry Dixon. Interment was made in Oak Hill Cemetery.
