Dalbey, 71, former assistant director of the FBI, died of a stroke Wednesday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Services for Mr. Dalbey, of 1054 Belle Mar Drive in West Des Moines will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Dunn's Funeral Home, and burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery.
  
  Born in Clarinda, Mr. Dalbey received a doctor of law degree from DePaul University in 1940 and went to work as a special agent for the FBI in December of that year. He served as an undercover agent in Chile during World War II as part of an operation that broke up two German espionage rings....
  
  Survivors include his wife, Ardis; a son Joseph Jennings Dalbey of Des Moines; a daughter, Susan Schettewi of Bethesda, Md.; two brothers, C.W. of Indianola and George W. of Clarinda; and a granddaughter.⁴
