    Interment will be in the Lakeview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Larry and Louis Welch, George Kramer, Frank McCabe, Steve Solko and August Sattler.

    The Rosary will be recited Monday at 8 p.m. at the Stedronsky Funeral Home Chapel.

    Mr. Welch was born Feb. 8, 1905 at Westfield, Iowa, to Mr. and Mrs. Edward Welch and died Sept. 10 at the Wagner hospital. On May 14, 1935 he married Velda Johnson at Rock Valley, Iowa.

    They had lived in Akron, Iowa, and at Hudson S.D., before moving to Lake Andes in 1947. Mr. Welch owned the local billiard parlor.

    Survivors include his wife; five daughters, Mrs. Mark (Patricia) Stillion, Wagner; Mrs. Ray (Ellen) Noble, Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla.; Mrs. Myron (Colleen) Youngbluth, Maywood, Calif.; Marilyn and Debra Kay, Lake Andes; one son, Jack, Lake Andes; three grandchildren; four brothers, Michael, Westfield; William, Upland, Calif.; Joseph, Homer Neb., and Mathew, Elk Point, and two sisters, Mrs. Julia Taylor, Akron, and Mrs. Anges Tobin, Westfield.

    He was preceded in death by a son and two brothers.

    VERMILLION - Delvina L. Hanson, 83, Vermillion, died Thursday in Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton.

    Delvina Bechard was born Aug. 12, 1904, in Aurora, Kan., and moved to Vermillion in 1923. She married Peter O. Hanson Oct. 30, 1924, in Vermillion.

    Mrs. Hanson was employed in the custodial department and as a nurse's aid at Dakota Hospital in Vermillion. Her husband died Nov. 13, 1985.

    She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Vermillion.

    Survivors include two sons: Gerald, Vermillion; and Brother James, Blue Cloud Abbey, Marvin; two daughters: Mrs. James (Jeanne) Lawler, Vermillion; and Mrs. Allan (Joann) Gosnell, Las Vegas, Nev.; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lena Hebert, Concordia, Kan.

    Services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Agnes Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

    A wake service will begin at 7:30 p.m.Sunday in the church.

    Gerald was born January 12, 1926 in Vermillion to Peter and Delvina (BeChard) Hanson. He grew up in Vermillion, and attended Vermillion schools.

    Gerald entered the Marine Corps from 1944 to 1947 serving during WWII, and the Army from 1950 to 1952 serving in the Korean War. He had worked for the County Highway Department for over thirty years retiring in 1988.

    He is survived by six sons; David of Merriman, NE, Dennis of Seattle, WA, Douglas of Gayville, SD, Mark (Monica) also of Merriman, Scott (Jane) of Vermillion, and Stephen of Watauga, TX. Also surviving him are two daughters; Teresa Hanson of Vermillion, and Dawn (Jeff) Styles of Yankton, SD, a brother Brother James Hanson of Milbank, SD, two sisters Jean Lawler of Sturgis, SD, and JoAnn Gosnell of Henderson, NV, 22 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, a great granddaughter Sydney Tichy, a niece, two nephews, several aunts and uncles, and a special friend Geraldine Johnson.

    Burial in the Calvary Cemetery in Vermillion.

    Jeanne A. Lawler, 93, of Carroll, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.

    Jeanne Ann Hanson was born on February 4, 1928, in Vermillion, South Dakota, the daughter of Peter and Delvina (Bechard) Hanson. She was a graduate of the Vermillion, South Dakota High School.

    On January 23, 1950, Jeanne was united in marriage to James Lawler in Vermillion, South Dakota. The couple farmed in the Ogden area until moving to Vermillion in 1961. Jeanne worked at J.C. Penney's as a bookkeeper for 22 years until retiring. In 1989, Jeanne and Jim moved to Sturgis, South Dakota. Jim passed away on September 3, 2007. In September of 2018, Jeanne moved to Swan Place in Carroll, Iowa, where she resided until her death.

    Jeanne was a former member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Sturgis, South Dakota. In retirement, Jeanne spent her free time volunteering at the Sr. Citizen's Center, quilting, and Norwegian stitchery. Jeanne and Jim also enjoyed camping in their earlier years.
