  Mr. Welch was born Feb. 8, 1905 at Westfield, Iowa, to Mr. and Mrs. Edward Welch and died Sept. 10 at the Wagner hospital. On May 14, 1935 he married Velda Johnson at Rock Valley, Iowa.
  
  They had lived in Akron, Iowa, and at Hudson S.D., before moving to Lake Andes in 1947. Mr. Welch owned the local billiard parlor.
  
  Survivors include his wife; five daughters, Mrs. Mark (Patricia) Stillion, Wagner; Mrs. Ray (Ellen) Noble, Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla.; Mrs. Myron (Colleen) Youngbluth, Maywood, Calif.; Marilyn and Debra Kay, Lake Andes; one son, Jack, Lake Andes; three grandchildren; four brothers, Michael, Westfield; William, Upland, Calif.; Joseph, Homer Neb., and Mathew, Elk Point, and two sisters, Mrs. Julia Taylor, Akron, and Mrs. Anges Tobin, Westfield.

  Gerald entered the Marine Corps from 1944 to 1947 serving during WWII, and the Army from 1950 to 1952 serving in the Korean War. He had worked for the County Highway Department for over thirty years retiring in 1988.
  
  He is survived by six sons; David of Merriman, NE, Dennis of Seattle, WA, Douglas of Gayville, SD, Mark (Monica) also of Merriman, Scott (Jane) of Vermillion, and Stephen of Watauga, TX. Also surviving him are two daughters; Teresa Hanson of Vermillion, and Dawn (Jeff) Styles of Yankton, SD, a brother Brother James Hanson of Milbank, SD, two sisters Jean Lawler of Sturgis, SD, and JoAnn Gosnell of Henderson, NV, 22 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
  He was preceded in death by his parents, a great granddaughter Sydney Tichy, a niece, two nephews, several aunts and uncles, and a special friend Geraldine Johnson.
  
  Burial in the Calvary Cemetery in Vermillion.

  Jeanne Ann Hanson was born on February 4, 1928, in Vermillion, South Dakota, the daughter of Peter and Delvina (Bechard) Hanson. She was a graduate of the Vermillion, South Dakota High School.
  
  On January 23, 1950, Jeanne was united in marriage to James Lawler in Vermillion, South Dakota. The couple farmed in the Ogden area until moving to Vermillion in 1961. Jeanne worked at J.C. Penney's as a bookkeeper for 22 years until retiring. In 1989, Jeanne and Jim moved to Sturgis, South Dakota. Jim passed away on September 3, 2007. In September of 2018, Jeanne moved to Swan Place in Carroll, Iowa, where she resided until her death.
  
  Jeanne was a former member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Sturgis, South Dakota. In retirement, Jeanne spent her free time volunteering at the Sr. Citizen's Center, quilting, and Norwegian stitchery. Jeanne and Jim also enjoyed camping in their earlier years.
  
  Survivors include one daughter, Ann (John) Sweeney of Carroll, Iowa; three sons, Michael (Kathy) Lawler of Elk Point, South Dakota, Peter Lawler of Rapid City, South Dakota, and Mark (Scarlet) Lawler of Rapid City, South, Dakota; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Joann Gosnell of Las Vegas, Nevada; one brother, James Hanson of the Veterans Home in Lisbon, North Dakota.
  
  Her parents, husband, Jim Lawler, daughter, Kristie Lawler, son, Bruce Lawler, and one brother, Jerry Hanson, preceded her in death.

Burial will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Yankton, South Dakota. Welch was born June 22, 1948, in Wagner, South Dakota, to John Sr. and Velda (Johnson) Welch. He grew up in Lake Andes, South Dakota and graduated from Lake Andes High School in 1967. He enlisted in the United States Army and after his honorable discharge returned to Lake Andes to help his mother run the Welch Pool Hall. He married Joyce Fuchs in 1969 and together had one son John Welch III. They moved to Yankton in 1971 and John started working for Kolberg Pioneer. He married Bonnie Carda on May 17, 1980 in Yankton and together had two sons: Matthew and Daniel. John worked for Kolberg Pioneer for 45 years until retiring in 2016. John was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and enjoyed hunting, telling stories and fishing with his best fishing buddy, his grandson Liam. He loved his grandchildren and loved spending time with them. Holidays had to be celebrated at his house and he loved when the house was full of family. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie of Yankton; three sons: John (Crystal) Welch of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Matthew (Renee) Welch of Tyndall, South Dakota; and Daniel Welch of Sioux Falls; 11 grandchildren: Sarah, Martin, Libby, Alexis, Jacob, Chloe, Levi, Liam, Logan, Luke and Lane; four sisters: Patricia Stillion of Wagner, South Dakota; Ellen Nobles of Ocala, Florida; Colleen Youngbluth of Paris, Tennessee and Debra Welch of Springfield, South Dakota as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Timothy and sister, Marilyn.⁴
