    Obituary
13 May 2015 | Emmett, Gem, Idaho, United States
His obituary was published on 13 May 2015 in Emmett, Gem, Idaho, United States. Glen Wittenburg, 85, passed away on his farm in Emmett, ID on May 10, 2015.
Glen was born February 24, 1930, in Salmon, Lemhi County, Idaho, to Herbert Theodore and Thelma Fem Anders Wittenburg. At the age of 7, Glen went with his father to Alamo, Hidalgo County, TX. In 1944, they moved to Maysville, Benton County, AR. It was there he met and married Marjorie Alene Marsh on July 19, 1948. To this union three girls were born. The family moved to Moscow, Kansas in 1953, where he had taken a job with a large wheat farmer and travelled with the harvest crews. In 1957, Glen reconnected with his Mother who was living in Boise, ID. After her death in 1960, he bought a farm southwest of Emmett, and in June 1962, he moved his family. He resided on the farm until his death. While he and Marjorie milked cows and grew row crops, he worked several jobs outside the farm. He worked at Boise Cascade Corp and then for City Transfer Redi-Mix for several years while still doing what he loved best-farming! He was a volunteer on the Letha Fire Department for many years. Glen was well known and respected in the valley for his farming skills. He loved to plant corn and watch it grow. It was on the farm he taught his work ethics to his daughters. Trustworthy, honest, and integrity are words that come to mind when thinking of Dad. He and Marjorie were fortunate to take many trips all across the United States and Canada. Glen could sit and tell you about every road and its condition that he had ever driven. It was the same with farm crop prices and yields.
Glen enjoyed going to farm sales, visiting with neighbors & friends and was a huge fan and supporter of Idaho Public TV. In November 2009, he was one of the recipients of the Gem County Farm Bureau's "Gems of Gem County", an honor he was very proud and humbled to receive. Glen was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie, on March 20, 2010, his parents, an infant brother, William and his great-grandson Lucas Johnson.
He is survived by his daughters and their spouses: Norma (Gary) Johnson of Grants Pass, OR, Glenda (Tom) Ham of Boise, and Carla (Jim) Porath of Emmett; five grandchildren: Gregory Paul Johnson of Arlington, Texas, Matthew Glen (Wendy) Johnson of Nampa, Jeffrey Edwin (Susan) Ham of Midlothian, VA, Brian Allen (Jennifer) Porath of Visalia, CA, and Carrie Ann (Matthew) Roll of Kensington , MD; six great-grandchildren Carissa Marie Johnson of Boise, Ethan Edwin Ham, Midlothian, Jessica Perez and Taylor Fisher of Visalia, Alexis Leigh & Madeline Claire Roll of Kensington and numerous cousins in Idaho and Texas. Graveside service will be held at 1:00pm Monday May 18, 2015 at the Emmett Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Potter Funeral Chapel. The family would like to thank the deputies & chaplain from the Gem County Sheriff's office and John Buck for their professionalism and respect shown to our Dad. And to his good friend and neighbor, Bern Mendenhall a huge Thank You!
