    His obituary was published on 18 January 1973 in Le Mars, Plymouth, Iowa, United States. Joseph R. Welch, 69, Homer farmer, died at a Sioux City hospital Tuesday (Jan. 16,1973) after a brief illness.

    Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Akron, with Rev. Stanley Stone officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's cemetery at Akron. The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Larken funeral home.

    Mr. Welch was, born. Feb. 7, 1903, at Westfield, where he lived until 1945 when he moved to Homer. He lived in Homer for the rest of his life except for a five-year period when he resided in Ute. He married Margie Anderson Dec. 27, 1945, at Akron. He was a veteran of world war 2 and was a member of St. Cornelius Catholic Church at Homer.

    Survivors are his wife; a son, Tom, and a daughter, Margaret, both at home; two brothers, Matthew of Sioux City and Mike of Westfield; and two sisters, Mrs. Darold Taylor and Mrs. Carl Tobin, both of Akron. The Larkin funeral home has charge of arrangements.

    His obituary was published in 2017 in Ocala, Marion, Florida, United States. Ellis "Ray" Nobles, 82, of Ocala, passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2017. He was born in Greenville, NC to Plum and Rosa Nobles in 1935. Ray and family moved to Ocala in 1975 after his retirement from the USAF. He served his country 21 years including places like Okinawa, Montana, Goosebay Labrador, Mojave Desert, Panama City, and Orlando. He also worked as a contractor, building many private homes around Marion County. Ray was preceded in death by his grandson Dr. Stephen Nobles in 2013. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ellen Nobles, son Ellis (Lynn) Nobles, Jr., granddaughter Dr. Jennifer (Brad) Farmer, and sister Margarette (Titus) Vaughn. Funeral services are pending and will be announced. Graveside interment with military honors will follow at Highland Memorial Park in Ocala.
