• Note: James Pearson served in both the French and Indian War and the Revolutionary War. He first appears at Andover and was a drummer in the First Company of Andover Men on April 18, 1757. He enlisted as a drummer in Capt. Thos. Poor's Company of Col. Ebenezer Nichols's Regiment and served for the reduction of Canada from April 3 to November 12, 1758'978 months. (Massachusetts Provincial War Records, 97: 70.) James Pearson, Jr., undoubtedly the same man, was a drummer in Capt. Joseph Smith's Co. from April 28 to December 4, 1760'9731 weeks, 4 days. He is reported as in the hospital at Albany from July 24 to August 17, 1760. His family appears to have lived at Andover from 1759-1760. They removed from Andover to Billerica in April 1761 and lived there to 1765. From 1776 to 1781 the family apparently resided in Medford. There their daughter Rebecca Pearson married Abraham Wellman of Lyndeborough, New Hampshire on May 17, 1781.
  
  James Pearson, undoubtedly the father, was a drummer in Capt. Caleb Brooks's Co. of Col. Nicholas Dike's regiment from December 1, 1776 to March 1, 1777, being credited to the town of Medford. Once more James Pearson, of Medford, appears as a drummer in Capt. Caleb Brooks's Co. of Col. Nicholas Dike's Regiment at Dorchester Heights. For the second time he enlisted in Capt. Mills's Co. of Col. Jeduthan Baldwin's Regiment of artillery artificers in the Continental Army and served as drummer from March 1, 1777 to April 20, 1778. (Massachusetts Soldiers and Sailors in the Revolutionary War, 12: 229, etc.)¹
