  Lydia L. Hooker was born near Ionia Nov. 16 1893, and died at Mankato, Kansas, June 6, 1910, aged 16 years, 6 months and 21 days. She leaves to mourn a father and mother, one grandmother, six brothers and many other relatives and friends. Lydia was converted two years ago and united with the United Brethren church and was a faithful member until death. Though her body was frail and her health was poor, she was when her strength would permit always to be found at Sunday School and church services which she enjoyed so much. And today we mourn her loss for she has gone to join with the service above and heaven is nearer and dearer than ever before because our loved ones are fast gathering over on the other shore. The funeral services were held in the U. B. church Wednesday, June 8 at 2 p.m. The pall bearers were six young ladies out of her Sunday School class. A large number was in attendance. Many flowers were placed on the casket as a token of love and respect for the departed friend. The services were conducted by the pastor of the U. B. Church, after which the remains wee laid in the Mankato cemetery.³
