Edward L. Johnson, 69, Elk Point, died Monday (May 8, 1978) at the Dakota nursing home in Vermillion after a lengthy illness.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Anderson funeral home, Elk Point. The Rev. Marvin Ketterling officiated, burial was in Pleasant Hill cemetery near Spink.
Mr. Johnson was born April 28, 1909, in Lake Andes. He married Minnie Scott Davis in 1933.
He was an employee of the Milwaukee railroad.
Survivors include his widow; a daughter, Mrs. Phyllis Solem of Akron; a step-daughter, Mrs. Doris James of Jefferson; two step-sons Floyd Davis of Elk Point and Walter Davis of Jefferson; 13 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Johnson and Melvin Johnson, both of Vermillion and four sisters, Mrs. Sylvia Limoges of Elk Point, Mrs. Velda Welch of Springfield, Mo., Mrs. Dorothy Welch of Akron, and Mrs. Maxine Jorgenson of Des Moines.
